This is the first installment of “Food Guy Montreal’s 10 Questions”. Towards the end of every month, a new person will be responding to 10 questions, plus one bonus which will change each time. I won’t be editing or changing anything the featured person responds with. So for the first post, I asked a good friend and fellow blogger to be the one to break the ice. Marcella DeVincenzo is a true Italian in every sense of the word. She makes frequent trips to the Jean Talon Market, which is her home away from home. Marcella also teaches young girls cooking classes at a school, writes for her blog, has a new project called Culinary Finders, and has a cookbook in the works. Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule Marcella! Here we go:

1. What are your 3 all time favorite restaurants in the world? (No particular order)

Lorenzo’s in Ravello – I ate so much it hurt and the next morning i was wishing i could eat there again!

Chez Denis in Paris – great place to introduce someone to this fabulous city

A small restaurant in Taormina – I really don’t remember the name of it, but I think of that place often. The beautiful scenery and the delicious seafood made that experience amazing. I so need to go back there.

2. What is your go-to comfort food?

Fries, hands down – most of the time poutine

3. If you were hosting a dinner party, which one guest would you invite? Dead or alive.

Good one, can I pick two? Audrey Hepburn and Anderson Cooper

4. What is your signature dish?

Roasted turkey. My family members don’t even attempt making this dish anymore, they just ask me. Yup, my roasted turkey is awesome 😉

5. What is your favorite junk food?

Cape Cod chips.  I don’t keep any in the house because i can finish a whole bag in one sitting.

6. What single food do you or would you go out of your way to have?

No hesitation, a Shake Shack burger

7. If you could eliminate one food from the world, what would it be and why?

Any and all processed foods. Do we really need Cheez Whiz or Marshmellow cream in a bottle?

8. Single best childhood food memory.

Coming home from school and my Nonna would be making pizza, but my favourite part was when she would stuff some of the dough with mozzarella cheese and then fry it.  So good!

9. Describe the kitchen you grew up in.

It was pretty big, dark cupboards and a greenish counter.  One thing I really remember was the stove.  It was white, installed up in the wall and didn’t have a peep window.  My mom would get so upset with me because I’d keep opening the oven door to take a look at what she was baking, most of the time it was cheesecake.

10. What would be your last meal?

My Nonna’s homemade pasta and sauce.

Bonus: 11. Name your one food confession.

I can only eat peaches if the skin is removed.  I get goosebumps just thinking about it.
